Ikura: Fertility Education

Service Description

Ikura is a programme that is aimed to be delivered to young wāhine who have entered the sacred realm of fertility. This programme includes cultural, spiritual, mental, physical and social aspects of the purpose and role of ikura (period). This programme is designed to empower young wāhine to have healthy relationships with their bodies, tune into the messages of te whare tangata (womb) and learn how to manaaki their whare tangata, protect their whakapapa and learn the realities and responsibilities of raising for a whānau. Programme covers: 1. Whakapapa of wāhine 2. Whakapapa, role and purpose of ikura MORNING TEA 3. Learning the role, purpose of Te Whare Tangata 4. Manaaki of Te Whare Tangata LUNCH 5. Whenua ki te Whenua (reusable ikura products) 6. Protecting Whakapapa, incorporating the Maramataka AFTERNOON TEA 7. Hapūtanga 8. Whānau ora (realities and responsibilities of raising a whānau) 9. Family Planning Evaluation and feedback
