Service Description

Participating in a Wāhine Wānanga will give you the opportunity to remove yourself from the whirlwind that most wāhine find themselves caught up and rushing in. Retreating deep into nature to connect deeply with Papatūānuku (Mother Earth), will start off your spiritual detox. Connecting with all wāhine who attend, will then lead into the connection with the Atua (Goddess) of the womb; Hine te Iwaiwa. Under her kaitiaki (guardianship) we will learn the functions of wāhine, the function of te whare tangata (womb), the science of epigenetics and how our whakapapa is affected. The aim of this wānanga is for you to strengthen your whakapapa (genealogy) by starting with yourself and engaging with personal development before progressing onto those that descend from the same whakapapa as you (children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews etc). Advancing onto positive stress relief strategies and exploring some of these through demonstration of these techniques will aim to promote a healthier relationship between you and the whenua (land, environment) and introduce you into forms of the traditional art of healing; Rongoā. To complete the wānanga, we will explore incorporating Marama (Moon) Rituals and living by the Maramataka (Maori Lunar Calender) to help ourselves manage the highs the lows we face in our everyday lives. This wāhine wānanga is ONLY for wahine who have been empowered with the sacred river of whakapapa. You must have menstruated to attend. No males are permitted to attend. A wāhine wānanga runs from late Friday afternoon to Early Sunday afternoon. It is a sleep in wānanga with accomodation within a Marae. All food is provided and plant-based. Please inform of any further dietary needs. Please withdraw from alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes and any other drugs not prescribed to you by a registered practitioner at least 72 hours before the wānanga. All Venues are Alcohol, Drug and Smoke free sites. Please contact first if you have any medical conditions, as some venues may be remote rurally located with 1-3 hours drive away from base Hospitals. From time to time I will invite guest speakers or traditional/contemporary Māori healers to support our wānanga. I look forward to meeting you all and can't wait to share with you!
